Still in 1982, Slania's next stamp for France was the famous statue named "Ephèbe d'Agde", unearthed in 1964 in the Herault River. While waiting for a more precise description about her origin, we find her proportions and the expression of her face to be similar to the portraits of Alexander the Great, which were created by the sculptor Lysippe de Sicyone in the second half of the 4th century B.C. According to specialists, she is a work from a "Lysipian School". This bronze statue, about 1,30 meters tall, showed signs of strong corrosion of metal. due to the prolonged stay in water, and was restored by the Archeological Laboratory of Nancy (France). Translated from French from a website about French Culture by the webmaster.

Please note that this stamp may also be found with a print error, where the blue colour is missing. |
Twelve years later, in 1994, Slania was commissioned to engrave a joint issue between France and Sweden in relation to the exhibition "The Sun and the North Star" in Stockholm and Paris. The similar Swedish stamp(s) can be seen on Sweden. Scott # 2414

The last stamp Slania did for France was engraved in 1999, and shows the neo-classical building Hôtel de la Monnaie (The Mint) in France, on the Quai de Conti on the River Seine. The Monnaie de Paris (Paris Mint) or, more administratively speaking, the "Direction of Coins and Medals", is an administration of the French government charged with issuing coins as well as producing medals and other similar items. The Mint is open to the public, and offers guided tours in a numismatic museum, located within what was once the main foundry, and the architectural ensemble.

The Hôtel de la Monnaie was designed by Jacques-Denis Antoine and built from 1767–1775 on the left bank of the River Seine. The building was the first major civic monument undertaken by Antoine, yet shows a high level of ingenuity on the part of the architect. Today it is considered a key example of French Neoclassicicm in pre-Revolutionary Paris. It boasts one of the longest façades on the Seine; its appearance has been compared to the Italian palazzo tradition. Sources and links:
